The challenge
Pharmaceutical manufacturers needed to serialize their products to meet regulatory track-and-trace requirements, without slowing packaging lines that were already running at capacity.
What was done
A Level 4 serialization architecture: GS1 DataMatrix printing and verification on the line, line and site systems to manage serial numbers and batches, and integration with the ERP so every shipment can be traced back to the batch.
The result
Serialized products leaving the lines with every code verified, and batch and shipment data available for regulatory reporting.
